Christen Tenorio

Adult Education Teacher

My name is Christen Tenorio, and I am from the Pueblos of Laguna and San Felipe, New Mexico. I received my Bachelor of Arts from Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas where I majored in Indigenous and American Indian Studies. Currently, I serve as the Adult Education Teacher for the Family and Child Education (FACE) Program under the Pueblo of Acoma Department of Education. FACE is a Bureau of Indian Education funded grant that focuses on Early Childhood Education and Parental involvement, promoting family togetherness through literacy and Adult Education services. Through the Adult Education portion of FACE, parents work on their goals, whether it be personal, academic or career. Adults will also focus on developing life skills, education and job training, GED test prep and focus on becoming their child’s first and most influential teacher. I am very thankful to be able to serve the Pueblo of Acoma families, and look forward to seeing the growth of our children and families through education, language and culture.
