Due to a significant increase in the number of Covid-19 positive cases on Acoma lands and throughout the State of New Mexico, the Acoma Tribal Council have authorized the following actions to mitigate the current public health threat to the Acoma community.
Please be advised that the Pueblo of Acoma is experiencing an increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases among both residents and non-residents. Inviduals who violated quarantine guidelines by attending wakes/funerals have caused the placement of nearly 100 Acoma members in quarantine.
On October 9, 2020, the Tribal Council approved Amendment No. 01 (attached) to Executive Order No. TA-2020-01 (dated April 10, 2020). The ongoing Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to impact the world and our own Acoma community. Our daily lives have changed significantly, and we are all making great sacrifices, sacrifices that are critical to protecting ALL Acoma people. The tribal government appreciates your continued cooperation and adherence to the Executive Order.
Per Pueblo of Acoma Executive Order No. TA-2020-01, Section 2 “Closure of Pueblo”, the following road closures and associated alternative access routes shall take effect on Friday, April 17, 2020.
In accordance with the Pueblo of Acoma Public Health Emergency Declaration issued on March 13, 2020, I, Governor Brian D. Vallo, hereby order the following measures to be implemented within the boundaries of Acoma lands, as authorized by the declaration, and to respond to the elevated threats of the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) to the Pueblo of Acoma. The rapid spread of COVID-19 has infected cities and towns across our state and has reached the boundaries of tribal lands. In some cases, the virus has already made its way into Pueblo households.
