Plan for Packs Program
What is the “Plan for Packs” Program?
The New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) began this program as a state-wide citizen’s preparedness initiative called “Plan for Packs”, in partnership with local emergency management office.
The Plan for Packs Program was designed for 4th grade elementary school children. The Acoma Office of Emergency Management (OEM) works with the Sky City Community School on a lesson plan that focuses on emergency preparedness concepts and steps to develop a Family Emergency Plan. There are hand outs to take home and exercises the kids can do to become familiar with emergency management terms.
Parents must sign an authorization form for each child allowing them to participate in the program.
At the end of the school year, each 4th grader who has completed the course will receive a certificate of completion from the Acoma Office of Emergency Management and a Plan for Pack home preparedness kit.

1 Rain Poncho
1 Sterile Latex Gloves set (single pair)
